Best Face makeup (foundation, concealer and Primer)
Please note I have all of these products and used them all.

10) Starting with concealer I find that the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (available at any Mecca Cosmetica and specialty makeup stockists online and in store) is possibly one of the best. This Concealer comes in nine shades, which is atypical to the custom 3 shades of fair, medium and dark concealers you will find in lower end and more commonly found concealers in the market these days. What makes this such a great concealer is the blend-ability. There is nothing worse than being able to see the actually colour difference between your foundation and your concealer so always make sure you blend. While there is a technical aspect to applying concealer the product itself should be able to blend really well and the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is perfect for that. It definitely rivals the M.A.C Select Concealer and definitely the sculpt and fix ranges.

Main points:

It is on the ‘full’ side of coverage. So you can definitely your this for actually covering blemishes rather than just under the eye.
It does not crease. This is wonderful especially for under the eye.
For those on the more conservative side of money - remember you skin will end up paying for you buying shit products. Always remember that.
Super Blend-able.
Has a huge colour range comparatively to other companies.
9) M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

This is an industry staple and while many people complain about ‘breaking out’; I find this a product that is perfect for me. This is of course M.A.C’s fullest foundation from the commercial and personal ranges (i.e. Non MACpro). There have been a few shades that have been discontinued however, despite this M.A.C’s Studio Fix is still one of the largest colour ranges for Foundation. Better yet depending on the region you buy in can mean that there is a range catered to the more common skin tones. Asia and India have their own skin tone ranges in the fix fluid because of the generally more Wheatish Skin tone.

Of Course this comes in the tradition NW and NC ranges. Personally I do think that if you are going to buy the Fix Fluid then get two colours to make sure you can balance out your makeup. No one single shade will cover your whole face because your face is not one shade. Therefore always remember that it is better to get one or two shades lighter and darker with the ‘matched’ colour of your skin. This helps to create a more even complexion of the skin.

I think that this foundation is super blend-able and yes it does stay put for a long time. It is quite matte and is very full coverage (For Fuller coverage please refer below to Make Up Forever HD Foundation). If you have dry skin this may not be for you because it does have a matte finish.
Some people do complain of breakouts but generally these people are also the same people who don’t wear primer and go to bed with make up on!

Main Points:

Matte finish.
Very full coverage.
Huge range of colours and warm and cool tones available.
Cheaper than most higher ended makeup brands for foundation.
Very blend-able.
Should probably get one or two colours that are lighter and darker in the fix so that you can actually shape your face and properly apply the foundation to the natural shades of your skin.
May want to avoid if you have dry skin.
Looks amazing with a primer (and will help you avoid breakouts).
Can be a bit heavy.
Perfect for photography.
8) Make Up Forever HD Foundation

So this is arguably one of the fullest foundations in the history of full coverage foundations. It has a close to immaculate finish and it looks amazing. Paired with the Make Up Forever HD Microfinish powder this is pretty much the holy grail of flawless foundation and photo grade makeup all day.

This is a super light weight foundation and is so blend-able it is … surreal. Again huge range of colours (not as large as M.A.Cs).
The only downer I have with this foundation is that it is not available in Australia (Or is was in Castle Hill NSW David Jones and was the Shut down). Generally speaking you will probably get it online but hopefully there will be a some store with it soon here in Sydney.

Main Points

Lightweight
Super duper blend-able
large range of colours
quite affordable (On it’s own without shipping)
super full coverage
a very long lasting full coverage foundation
7)Korres Vitamin E Face primer

Reasons why I love Korres: It is pretty much all natural - or at least as natural makeup can be without turning into mush.

This is an excellent face primer because it is hydrating and perfecting. It leaves he skin completely protected while actually helping the skin like a moisturiser.

If you have dry skin this is PERFECT for you. If you have oily skin you may want to reconsider. I think even if you do have oily skin this would be perfect for winter.
Downside: Hard to find but you can get this at Mecca Cosmetica.

Main points:

Nourishing
hydrating
protecting
hard to find
ultra important.
Again I stress the importance of using a primer - it protects and looks after your natural skin.

6) Hydra primer by By Terry

Now I don’t mean to make big statements hear but this is the GREATEST primer ever.
Reasons why this is perfect for everyone:
1) It is super hydrating but it is not dewy so it means if you have oily skin you can still have healthy skin that doesn’t get dried out without looking like it is super oily or super saturated with moisturiser.

2) Matte-fying even without actually being dehydrating

3)It is perfecting - makes your skin look so even and reduces redness

4) It is not silicone-y at all. A big problem with perfecting primers is that there is a high silicone percentage and makes you feel like your skin has been filled with selly’s grouting. This primer is not silicone-y at all and feels so natural while still being perfecting, hydrating and semi matte.

The only down side:

It is on the luxe side of the price range. If you are willing to pay and cost is no bar - go for it. If you are still apprehensive: I would still consider it but a nice alternative is Hour glass primer veil (again a bit pricey but not as pricey as By Terry). The only reason I still suggest a high end primer is that primer is more important than foundation.

Main points:

Perfecting
moisturising
semi-matte finish
not silicone-y
light
goes with any and every foundation
perfect for everyday use and for photography
a bit pricey but worth every cent
will last you a very long time.
5) Sheer Glow Foundation by NARS

This is a perfect foundation for everyday use. Like all NARS foundations, the one too is build-able to a medium coverage. It comes in a great range of shades and leaves a great natural finish. For those who are generally more acne-prone or are looking for something to completely conceal blemishes this is probably not the most ideal (maybe if you build it up).

I generally recommend this to people with dryer sin because this is a very luminous, dewy and moisturising formula. It is not matte-fying and it really good for daily use. If you have oilier skin this may not be for you, complexions of combination to dry skin will adore this. It is, like all NARS foundations totally blend able and while I say that there is a large colour spectrum again if you get shades that are a bit light and a bit dark you can pretty much create an amazingly even complexion.

Main Points:

Sheer, Perfect for daily use
Great range of colours
totally blend-able
build-able
not really for oily skin
perfect for combination to dry skin
really great natural finish
luminous and dewy
4) Sheer Expert Fluid by By Terry

Another sheer foundation (I do like them more), This foundation is on par with the NARS Sheer glow, but I like this one better because i love the feel of it. It is just so luxurious and smooth. BUT THERE IS MORE - unlike the sheer glow, tis is actually corrective. Your skin looks perfect with this. I generally never wear powder (except in the case of photography) and this doesn’t need ti at all. This is for ALL skin types, it is adaptive as well.

Points:

12 Shades
sheer, perfect for daily wear
perfecting and correcting
luminous
amazing texture and lightweight
a bit pricey
3) Veil Foundation by Hour Glass.

This foundation is a bit of a cult foundation, especially on the internet. It is full coverage and is a semi-matte to matte finish depending on the dryness of your skin I do have issues with this: If your skin is dry - ABORT, if not go right ahead. This is great for people who want to cover up blemishes. It is matte enough to skin powder - with powder it loos far too dry. It is a very good foundation though. For how full coverage this is, it is equally light on the skin and doesn’t clog pores. Of course this goes perfectly with it’s sister product: The Veil Primer, but it will go with any decent primer. I think it is important to wear this with a primer because it is quite dry.

Dryness aside, this is an amazing foundation. It does everything you could want it to do in a good full coverage foundation and because it doesn’t have any titanium dioxide it is perfect for flash photography.

Main Points

full coverage
matte
not really for dry skin
use with a primer for best results
light weight
beautiful finish
best results applied with the Hour Glass Buffing brush (100% taklon)
perfect for flash photography
2) NARS Tinted moisturiser

I know this isn’t ‘technically’ a foundation but it is just too good not to mention. I will admit I do use this almost everyday because it is a moisturiser first an foremost. it is more expensive than a standard NARS foundation, but it is worth it. You can skip primer with this because it is so hydrating. Because it is a moisturiser it is incredibly blend-able and is pigmented enough to actually pass off as though it is a foundation (build-able even). I swear by this tinted moisturiser. It is so lovely, light weight, non clogging, sheer and adds the perfect amount of coverage. Of course if you need to serious conceal blemishes use this with a concealer or use an actual foundation but I really think once you try it you will realise this is about all you need. It perfect enough that your face looks good but also sheer enough to not make you look like you are cake faced/porcelain doll without any pores. It does retail for $68AUD and that could be pricey for people but seriously you only need a drop of this to cover your face. this is best applied with your fingers because the warming of your finger tips adds to the blend-ability of the product and brushes may make this particular product look a bit streaky.

Main Points:

Amazing consistency
could probably skip primer
a bit pricey
sheer but does perfect
will last a long time
super hydrating - perfect for dry and combination skin without making you feel oily like some rich moisturisers
build-able
super pigmented.
1) Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation.

This is he holy grail for me. If you are willing to fork out for this goodness in a bottle, then DO IT. It will be the best choice you ever make. Now I will admit even sales reps are reluctant to show customers this product because they fall in love and then look at the price tag and feel their hearts break. It actually took me a good week or two to let my head get around the price of this foundation however ever since buying it i feel so much better off. Basically every foundation you have ever used, sheer, full, medium will pale compared to this. Where do I begin: It has the most wonderful correcting properties - it is just so wonderful it makes your skin look healthy, glowing and wonderful. It conceals blemishes like nothing else (you could probably skin concealer all together), even thought it only comes in about 8 shades it covers everyone (you may need more than one of these foundations though (I have 2 the number 6 and 7)), you require the smallest amount, it blends like a dream. It is light weight while making your skin look amazing, it accentuates your natural skin and makes it look better.

As you can see - the holy grail

It is everything i could have dreamed for in a foundation.

Main Points:

Super correcting
super concentrated
accentuates your natural skin and makes it look better
smallish range of colours
VERY pricey
very Blend-able
you can skip the concealer
perfect for all skin types
